Kenzi’s journey started with a shift in her own lifestyle. She went vegan, began choosing organic products, and became more mindful of the toxins in everyday items. But one thing she couldn’t ignore was the beauty industry itself—the very place she worked.
Traditional hair salons are filled with chemical-heavy products, harsh fumes, and ingredients that can have long-term effects on both clients and stylists. The toxins were affecting her health as a stylist, her clients' health, and she knew she had to make a change. But it wasn’t just the chemicals—Kenzi had also experienced the toxic culture that often exists in salons: the drama, gossiping, and mean-girl vibes that make the beauty industry feel unwelcoming and unauthentic. She wanted to change not just the products used in salons but also the entire environment.
The Birth of TRU Hair Salon
Determined to create a healthier alternative, Kenzi bought an old salon in downtown Colorado Springs, and changed the name to TRU Hair Salon —a luxury, organic, and low-tox salon dedicated to holistic hair care. TRU Hair Salon isn’t just about hair; it’s about an entire experience that nurtures the body, mind, and spirit!
